Let's Chat!
Let's chat about some common items a home may experience during it's lifetime.

Ice Damming
Ice damming can occur from a few different reasons. The most common is lack or poor insulation in your attic. But there's also other reasons such as unsealed penetrations into your attic or poor ventilation.
Hiring a respected and qualified home inspector can look for these deficiencies. The problems ice damming creates can be many from wet insulation to mold growth in your home. Ice damming is not a make or break in your home purchase, it's knowing how to combat it to prevent further issues that can affect the home's structure to your family's health.

Why Water Treatment?
Have a look at this picture from our friend's at Canature, it explains why water treatment is important to your home's health. Contaminants are picked up from the environment in all types of forms and can be introduced to your water supply. Even though you may be looking at a home that has water supplied from a municipality supply, your home will still benefit by some sort of water treatment equipment.
Treating your water will help save your appliances, fixtures, clothing, your skin and drinking water. The supplied link goes to their Drinking Water products they offer to professionals to install in your home, there are many other options for you to consider that will have similar results.

Why is my landing leaning?
Our client had already purchased this home and she had reached out to us for a discussion. We were hired to come into her recently purchased home in east Regina for an inspection. We had found multiple issues including this improperly supported landing coming from the side door. Even though this home had been built in the 1970's, it is unsure how long it had been like this. There was evidence of this being an issue for a very long time including a foundation crack, signs of moisture intrusion and structural modifications. Because we are only vested in your interest, we provided her a more detailed report showing more issues than the original inspection she had done including improper wiring, improper plumbing, modified and an illegal furnace installation.
Hiring a good home inspector is difficult with the many choices that are out there. Most times the inspector is recommended by someone we trust. Exploring your potential inspector's website and give them a call to have a conversation is key to making a decision. Ask the inspector to text or email some photos of their past inspections with explanations as to why there's an issue in the photo provided.
Height Issues
In this new build, the home was still under construction. The living area in the home on the main floor, the light fixture in this dining room was way too low. This can cause you to keep hitting your head, potential breakage of the fixture can occur, and an electrical hazard is imminent. Unfortunately we weren't able to take a photo of the height but at being 5'10" tall, the bottom of the fixture came to just below my chin.
Even though this home was under current construction, some of its elements hadn't been inspected before we were invited on site. We made in our report a few minor issues to be remedied before occupation of the home.
